This model represents the area of a Roman bath that was excavated in the 2016 season. The site of Cosa, located in southern Tuscany, about 150 km (about 90 miles) north of Rome, is an important archaeological site for Roman architecture and urban planning. In 2013, a project to excavate the bath complex of Cosa was begun and in 2016, the hot rooms of bath were uncovered, including a small, shallow pool (the apsidal feature in the center of the model).
