Roman Bath House, Ravenglass, Cumbria

One section of the extant walling of a Roman bath house outside the village of Ravenglass, on the coast of Cumbria. The bath house stands just outside a fort, and would once have been part of a busy civilian area collected around the military fortification. Although a ruin, it today represents one of the oldest standing building remains in the UK. This is the interior of the bath house: an alcove for a statue remains, as well as original plasterwork.
