Low-poly historical accurate (as close as possible) reconstruction of a late roman crossbow, called Arcuballista. This kind of crossbow was depicted only two times on reliefs in the West Roman Empire. They seem to have used a rotating nut trigger system, like the kind I modeled here. The bow could have been made from wood or a composition of wood and linen fabric. My textures show the composite version.
