Under the Emperor Trajan, the Roman Empire grew to its largest extent with the conquest of Dacia and the short lived provinces of Mesopotamia and Armenia. Trajan’s successor Hadrian would focus more on consolidation rather than conquest. The green section is a 3D Atlas of the Roman Empire during the Reign of the Emperor Trajan. The front of the green section is Roman territory in 98 CE and each subsequent year is placed behind the previous year in order until the end of Trajan’s life in 117 CE. The faint purple outline on either side of the green section similarly shows the territory controlled by Rome 50 years before and after Trajan’s reign and they are displayed for context.
