Note: It would be awesome if you could share your make pictures if you use this design. Would motivate me to continue to work on it. Thanks Root 3 Mod: This mod increases the Z-axis height and also converts the root 3 from belt drive to SFU 2005 Ball Screw drive. The Y mounts are also self-aligning when using an accurate cut base plate, making parallel assembly far easier. The Y mounts self aligns by using a lip on the bottom corner of the print, that lip means that the print can easily be mounted parallel to the other mount in the pair. In order for the new Y mounts to work, you must use the following method when building your machine. [CNC Base Length] = [ Ball Screw Length ] [25mm box section length] = [CNC Base Length] - 200mm e.g my build is [CNC Base Length 1000mm ] = [ Ball Screw Length 1000mm ] [25mm box section length 800mm ] = [CNC Base Length 1000mm] - 200mm This is a work in progress as there are other parts of the modification that need to be shared in order to work. Please be aware that these mounts are very heavy duty and therefore use a lot of filament. I printed mine using a 1.2mm Nozzle meaning each print was around 1.2kg of PETG. I used a cheap eBay filament to save costs and once dialled in was pleasantly surprised with the strength and quality. But do not start the project if you cannot commit to using a lot of filament and print time. If you choose to upgrade to a steel base plate as I have then it is important to ground the base to avoid electrical noise issues.
