DIY rotary evaporator for all your rotovap needs! The system is driven by a 200RPM, 12V DC motor with a 4mm shaft and designed to fit a standard 24/40 round bottom flask. The system has been tested with a 250 mL flask and 75 mL of fluid with no problem, however, more torque may be needed for larger flasks / more volume. Gearing The driveshaft is designed to fit onto the 4mm motor shaft and drive a gear around the neck of the flask. Housing The housing of the rotovap fits together like a puzzle and thus can be taken apart. The vertical and horizontal supports are held together by the central support and an additional brace. Vacuum input A 1 cm diameter gas hose was used as the vacuum input and thus the hose supports are fitted to this size. However, this can be easily altered to fit whatever hosing is used.
