When engraving one will need to re-sharpen the gravers every now and then. Also, when making new gravers, one needs to grind down the surface and heel of the gravers. A rotary power hone can help a lot with that, but the commercial ones are rather expensive. This is where this little project steps in. To make the best use of it, you can utilize a sharpening jig like https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4599936, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4818410, or https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4608338. This tool makes use of the brushless motor found in discarded harddisk drives. Things you will need for this besides the printed parts: * 1 x project box KGB 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, or 15 (e.g. https://www.pollin.de/p/donau-elektronik-kunststoffgehaeuse-kgb11-schwarz-460281) * 1 x plug-in power supply 12VDC/1A * 1 x 12V brushless motor driver module (e.g. https://www.ebay.de/itm/401624309063?var=671369025264) * 1 x power switch * 1 x selector switch (for forward/reverse rotation) * 1 x 12VDC power socket matching the plug of the power supply * 1 x 12V LED power control lamp * 2 x M3 screws and nuts for mounting the honing table * 1 x M3 screw for mounting the motor driver module * 1 x Salvaged HDD motor (and the screws used to mount it inside the HDD) * 1 x Piece of 1mm aluminum sheet for mounting the motor inside the case * 4 x M3 screws for mounting the aluminum sheet * some cables to connect all the electronics * some salvaged hard disks for use a honing wheels * some emery paper of various grits (I use grits from 100 to 1200) * some double sided adhesive tape for sticking the emery paper to the disks To create the knob for the potentiometer I made use of https://www.thingiverse.com./thing:487958. The front and back plates of the project box were created using https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5824919. You will need to place this .scad file in your OpenSCAD library directory should you want or need to change the panel designs.
