Rotor Magnet Holder - Alternator Motor with Permanent Magnets

This rotor magnet holder should fit any standard size alternator. Turns an alternator into a brushless generator (with no rotor coil to excite). Also turns the alternator into a powerful 3 phase motor that will run on 12 to 48 volts DC using an electronic speed controller. The voltage you use will depend on how much torque you need from the motor. The amount of torque will also determine the ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) you need to use. Hi torque operation for an electric bike will require 38 to 46 volts and around 40 amps. I'm using this motor to convert a pedal bike to an electric bike. Strip the alternator down... Remove the diodes and voltage controller (not needed)... Cut the rotor polarity tags off... Remove the rotor winding... Fit the printed rotor magnet holder around the rotor shaft using retaining pins (use superglue and close it in a vice as it is tight around the rotor shaft)... Glue the magnets into position - south, north, south, north etc. Allow 24 hours for glue to fully set before reassembly.
