Original wouldn't render properly in OpenSCAD. When using difference or intersection, the result would just be the entire STL, with nothing removed. Fixed with MeshLabs via Filters / Cleaning and Repairing / Remove T-Vertices by Edge Flip. Renders ok now with F6
