This set of easy to print parts makes a nice and well working router out of your Proxxon multi tool. It should fit for all similar tools that have a 20mm diameter metal clamping base.

The height of the router bit tip vs. the base plate can be adjusted with a range of motion of somewhat over 20mm, which should be enough considering that such router bits have a cutting depth of 13-14mm only.

In the highest position, the tip of the bit will not reach out at the bottom, allowing the storage of the complete setup in an upright orientation without scratching your work bench surface.

In the lowest position, the drill chunk of the Proxxon will be just above the surface of your material, so it cannot touch and scratch the surface.

To demonstrate how nicely cutouts can be made with this router, I have added a picture which shows a cutout in very coarse packaging styrofoam, which is not trivial to work with, because it is so brittle. I have also tested it with plywood, which also worked fine, but my bits are not perfectly suited for wood.

As always: Be careful when working with tools and use this tool at your own risk!

Print instructions

Simply print all part in the orientation that I uploaded. No supports are necessary. For the smaller and the bigger knobs, I recommend a brim, as the surface on the bed is not too big.

As these are functional parts, I do recommend PETG over PLA.

In addition you need 4 square nuts M3 which need to be put into the slots on the lower side of the clamping block. Also you need 2 screws M3x25 for the clamping around the Proxxon. And you need 2 screws M3x20 for the bigger height adjustment knobs. The M3 screws need to have hex heads, so they can't rotate within the knobs. There is no need to glue in either the square nuts or the screws into the knobs. In normal operation you simply tighten or loosen the screws a bit, but never take them out completely.

Please note that the smaller and the bigger knobs cannot be interchanged, as they have a different thickness at their bottoms. The screw length will not fit if you mix up the knobs.

License:

The license does not allow derivatives, as one of my designs was “taken” from me in the past to collect donations on Thingiverse via a “Remix”, that did not add any significant value. That made me really sad. If you want to seriously remix this design, please contact me and I will gladly approve that.
