Router jig for concealed cabinet hinges

A template or jig to use with your router to create holes for Blum type concealed cabinet hinges. These hinges are readily available from many sources, for instance at Ikea (Utrusta, Komplement and Integral). The design assumes a router template guide diameter of 18.3mm and a 9.5mm bit, but this can easily be customized. Also, the distance between the mounting screws seems to vary depending on model. 45mm seems to be the more common size, but I believe also 48mm and 42mm are, or have been, used. When customizing, if you get problems with the screw holes interfering with the main hole, try using a larger diameter milling bit. Various jigs are available in the market that does the same job, but they all seem to require a 35mm bit for drilling. Some of the jigs will also make a deeper central hole, which can be a real issue for thin walls. With this tool, you only need your standard router with template guide installed and a standard cylindrical bit. While working, the jig is securely fixed to the workpiece using two 3mm screws. The holes left by the screws then serve as guides for the hinge mounting screws. Some of the latest Blum hinges does not use mounting screw, but instead they have a screwless pressure mechanism for fitting. They work just fine as long as you finish off by drilling 8mm holes where the screws are. For strength, print with relatively thich walls. No support is needed.
