RP9 Fan Mount v6

RP9 Fan Mount v6

thingiverse

This is a fan mount that I designed in Tinkercad for my RP9 v2 printer from http://www.bobscnc.com. The clip fits snugly in the space between zip ties holding the Y linear bearings on either side of the hot end assembly. Print one for each side to ensure even cooling. The mount fits a 40 mm fan and is a tight fit in the printer. The fan should be mounted on the underside of the clip using M3 screws - guessing 30-35 mm long. The 30 degree tilt was picked to fit some air ducts of similar angle. However, due to mounting constraints none of the designs I've found are short enough to fit. Please be aware that the dimensions of the RP9 and 40 mm fans make for a tight fit. Depending on where you have zip ties, you may find yourself bumping into them when the hot end is going home. When running, the two fans will cool the hot end a bit and will require the heating block to work a bit harder to maintain temperature. I have had no issues with maintaining 190-210 degrees C for PLA, but I've not tried higher temperatures. Your mileage may vary. This design is the sixth iteration and I will not likely make any additional changes. This thing was made with Tinkercad.
