3rd stage in evolution of RR-Evo - improving fastening of hot-end. Previous steps:RR-Evo Delta 3D Printer - [E1] plywood versionRR-Evo Delta 3D Printer - [E2] upgraded with Rostock parts Description My hot-end is very simple all-metal Chinese thing with PTFE tubing passing to the centre of heating block. The heat sink shape is cylinder with 20 mm outer diameter, ~45-50 mm length. I decided to fasten it in two points - bottom and top (or near top) ends of the cylinder. My thoughts were to minimize any possible deflection that could happen when it's fastened at one end far from centre of gravity. Other requirements were to save some height of build volume by placing heating block close to platform and of course reuse the same 40x40 mm fan, trying to make it all compact. At any evolution stage my printer always had platform compatible with Rostock's one (I mean its height, central and mounting holes), so the thing can be used on other compatible printers. Parts The thing consists of three printed parts. v2_mount and v2_nozle are top and bottom parts that are glued together. v2_clamp is used to hold hot-end on top and also wires passing to heating block. The fan is also a construction element, being screwed to the mount posts it makes whole assembly very sturdy. One also needs m3 screws of appropriate length, nuts and washers to fixate the thing on platform. Print settings All parts were printed of ABS with 0.2 mm layer height. I do not remember infill settings, but I usually use 50 - 62% value for this sort of parts. The top part (v2_mount) requires support. After more than 2 years of use I didn't find any issue with this part.
