Rudimentary mechanism for extremely small movements

Simple mechanism, two screws rotated by hand in opposite directions provide miniscule rotation to central screw which then moves an extremely small amount.I wonder how it feels in real life, I'd imagine the screws would tend to stick if rotated at uneven rates. Some play in the thread would lessen the effect of uneven rotation but that works against the precision of the system. You could also jam or even bend the apparatus by turning both screws in the same direction too.From Mechanisms & Mechanical Devices 3rd ed - Neil Sclater 2001
