Ruler Depth Gauge

Ruler Depth Gauge

When setting up your router table or freehand router, there are two primary adjustments to make: the fence distance and the bit height. This Depth Gauge makes setting both easily. Just set the hairline indicator for the distance you need from the fence to the center of the bit, hook it onto the bit shank, then slide the fence over until it touches the foot on the gauge. To use it as a height gauge, simply set it at your bit height, lay the foot flat on the table and raise the bit until it touches the arm. The half-round notches let you register the gauge to the center of 1/4'' and 1/2'' shank router bits. Alternatively, you can use the ''depth'' portion to measure to the edge of the cutter, rather than the middle of the shank. This is made into two pieces that will need to be glued together. This makes it easier to print and also clean up the supports needed in the ruler slot; along with cleaning up the threads for the hole. It also have a matching M6X10 threaded Thumb Screw. The main gauge body also has added pins and holes for easy alignment when gluing it together. Depending on your printer you may need to re-drill the holes to fit the pins. There are also non-threaded parts if you'd like to use a different tread size. Lastly there's a one piece main base if you'd like to have it all in one piece. I printed it just fine with ABS with no supports and no printer enclosure. FEATURES: 1. Easily set your router table fence a precise distance from the center of your router bit. Ideal for doing dados and flutes 2. Use as a height gauge for setting the heights of router bits and saw blades 3. Half-round notches register to the center of 1/4'' and 1/2'' shanks 4. Broad foot rests against router table fence, and is offset so the fence opening isn't a problem 5. Fits any 1'' wide X up to .045" thick steel ruler with no offset (measurement starts at end of the ruler) I also have one for a ruler with up to a 1/4" measurement offset.
