Upper part is shaped so water that flows on the deck will pass around the air vent with ease. Also rainwater from above should flow through the bell and not into the air vent. Water that passes through the bell keeps the vent cleaner by washing away dust that normally would stay there. There are no side facing holes or straight ways into air vent so wind can't push any water in directly. Venting holes are positioned on top of the bell and under it letting the air from the cabin to be sucked out by passing wind. On this model the vent opening is close to 20cm2 but also the dome is half the size of the original Vetus Ufo2. Inside the vent is opened and closed by turning the vent in pointed direction. One and a half turns opens the vent fully. Vent moves in and out indicating how open the vent is. When green line is visible it means that the vent is closed tightly and seal is compressed.
