Saint Cecilia

This statue of Saint Cecilia originates from the church of Saint Giacomo e Lazzaro alla Tomba, Verona. It was made in the 14th Century by a master of Sant'Anastasia. Saint Cecilia is the patroness of musicians, as can be identified by this sculpture where she holds in her hands a Church organ. It is written that as the musicians played at her wedding she "sang in her heart to the Lord".
