# Squish and Level Test - SALT Fast printing low filament consumption test print designed to show bed level/height problems. Pattern printed is parallel lines (twice the 0.4 nozzle width) with the same gap between them. ## Bed Level Adjust If the gap between the print head and the bed is too small (too much first layer squish), the gap between the lines is too narrow. If the gap is too large, a gap can appear between the two runs of plastic that are supposed to merge to form a single line. Adjust bed as needed and reprint until all four gaps appear correct. See pictures for examples of correct, high, and low gaps. ## Parametric adjustments * bed_x & bed_y - set the actual dimensions of your print bed * first_layer_thick - this must match the first layer setting of the slicer * nozzle_width - must match slicer and actual nozzle * margin - defaults to 20mm to allow room for optional skirting
