So basically, I really like these headphones, and my only real gripe with them is the long cable which is nice at the desk, but annoying to use with a phone in the pocket. Many headphones solve this by having a plug instead, and supplying you with multiple cables (sometimes even with a microphone, so you can call your nanny with them). Since the SR850 (and other similar headphones) have their a fixed cable terminated in an easily detachable cap (held by a single screw, hidden underneath a press-fit "decorative" plaque) this cap can be easily replaced with a bit bigger one, making space for an actual 3.5mm jack. This model is just that, including the mounting holes for the cover, and using the original screw. The cap is big enough to fit most of the jack sockets i had, so i picked the one which held the cable the best. Of course You will need to solder the wires inside, and the jack connector might need a bit of hot glue to stay in place. (and yes, i used the best in class CAD suite known as Blender, again, .blend file is included if you want to make the model actually good)
