Sand Silo for Sandbox

Sand Silo for Sandbox

thingiverse

This is a sand silo for my nephews as an add-on for their sandbox. Take off the lid, fill the silo with sand. Place the toy car under the silo and move the slider to the open position. Instructions I have yet to receive my own replicator. Therefore I don't know how well the design prints. The cylindrical part of the silo has to be printed twice. The legs are best made of round beech wood having a diameter of 10 mm and a length of 200 mm. In case the silo is a bit shaky, I suggest to drill small holes in each leg and connect them diagonally with strings to increase the shear stiffness of the structure (see blue lines in the second picture). As an add-on to the silo I designed a simple locomotive and a car. Each of them requires axles made of round beech wood (6 mm diameter, 50 mm length). The model "SandSilo_Locomotive.pk2" contains all components. It can be modified in Creo Express.
