This is a protective cover for an Alto Saxophone mouthpiece which uses a leather ligature. The standard mouthpiece cover which comes with the mouthpiece is designed for a metal ligature and does not fit when the leather ligature is installed. The cover protects the tip of the reed (which is very expensive).
