Scale-While-Extruding OpenSCAD Doodle
thingiverse
I experimented with extruding a shape that changes over time and discovered an interesting result. Essentially, it's comprised of two layers of twisted, skewed squares, which surprisingly creates a smoother surface as the individual squares are rotated. The layers are only 0.5mm thick, with the 40mm version measuring 40mm in height and the 80mm version standing tall at 80mm. After running the 80mm model through Netfabb, it was reduced to less than two-thirds of its original size. Feel free to tinker with the OpenSCAD script or print the STL files directly. You can find them on GitHub here: https://github.com/syvwlch/Thingiverse-Projects/tree/master/ScaleExtrudeHorns, but be warned that rendering with 160 layers may take a long time.
