Scanoman - Full-body portable 3D scanner

thingiverse

Scanoman is a full-body 3D scanner that I've build using easy to find materials, usual vitamins and electronics for the reprap world and... 3D printed parts. It uses a MS Kinect for XBOX sensor and is fully motorized on 3 axes: X is the turntable and is calibrated so that one unit is one degree of rotation Y is sensor tilt and similarly one unit is one degree of tilting on a +/- 25 degrees range (not using the internal sensor motor, but an external one) Z is vertical displacement of sensor, having a 2 m range. It uses 3 NEMA 17 stepper motors driven by a Minitronics board and controlled with Pronterface. I recommend using ReconstructMe 3D scanning application. It will take some time until I compile all the documentation so please be patient. Updates 2019-06-02 / Slider assembly view Since people are still looking for instructions, I spent some time to compose a view of the slider assembly (Scanoman-Slider.wrl). You may open it with 3D Builder (in Win10) or any other appropriate viewer. Please note that Kinect is pretty heavy, hence it is not possible to reliably drive the slider directly with a pinion/rack mechanism. That's why the assembly includes a reduction gearing. It was no science to calculate, just tried what "work and fit". 2019-02-25 / "Reducer" files It was amazing to see people are still getting inspired by this project :) Therefore, I attached some files that were missing from the library. These are related to the assembly for driving the turntable. It consists of: 2 plates (called "supports" for top and bottom, holding the motor and the gears, and necessary spacer gears for reducing the speed and increasing torque (stl and scad files) The pictures may give you some indication of the way of assembling parts. Sorry, but this is all I can provide - it is quite an "old" project from my "3D childhood" :) 2014-07-13 / Created thingie, uploaded STL files and pictures. Instructions By now, I was not able to secure the necessary time to complete the documentation. However, you can follow the link below to a page with more about this thingy.http://3dmaker4u.com/scanoman-project.html
