Schwedenkreuz

The “Schwedenkreuz” is located in Allensteig, in the so-called Tobelfeld. A large Templar cross is engraved on the disc. Also 4 round recesses are engraved. The cross was lost for years because it was buried in an adjacent field. According to legend, Swedish soldiers are buried under the cross. In 1645, the Swedes besieged Allensteig and then burned it down completely. The Swedish drink, boiling liquid manure, was poured into farmers’ mouths. Houses were looted and set on fire.
