This is a 3D printed feeder mechanism called, 'Scratch Cloud,' that is designed for open-range chicken farms. I decided to design the feeder around the DJI F450 Flamewheel drone because of its cost and adaptability. This will allow chicken farmers to have a less expensive system compared to more expensive drones and feeder systems. The design consists of a 3D printed hopper with landing gear, a feeding mechanism using a gear mounted in the bottom of the hopper that is turned by a stepper motor, and mounting piece that attaches to the base plate of the F450. The feeder doesn't have to be used just for feeding chickens. It could be used for grass seed, seed bombs, non-liquid pesticide, fertilizer, etc. The hopper has an approximate capacity of 6 cups. The F450 may require motor and propeller upgrades to lift the required payload. The stepper motor is a Nema 17 Short Stepper Motor. I used Trysten Mee's stepper motor model from Grabcad to help in the design process. I used files that people on Thingiverse posted of the DJI F450 Flamewheel to help in the design process as well.
