Screen Door - Replacement Latch Plate

Screen Door - Replacement Latch Plate

thingiverse

The bar on the plastic latch plate for our screen door captures both the latch and the dead bolt. When it broke off, 3D printing seemed like a good alternative for repair. The resulting part isn't as strong as the original, and certainly isn't as temperature tolerant, but it was much easier than machining an aluminum replacement. The FreeCAD file is included for modifications. Hopefully this is of some use to someone. Update: One week installed, and going strong. Update: As of 26 July, still in place and working well. Print Settings Printer Brand: Printrbot Printer: Printrbot Plus Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: Any Infill: 50% Notes: I printed in PLA - not a good choice, but it was loaded in the printer. ABS or PET would certainly be better. Print with at least 50% infill, so you have some strength. I may modify the design to allow insertion of some steel or brass rod.
