Screw Box Organizer

Screw Box Organizer

As I accumulated a bunch of small boxes of screws, nuts, washers, etc., I found that they ended up piled on one another and the box I needed was always in the middle of the pile. To avoid this I made this modular, stackable screw box organizer. I've included pictures of the kinds of boxes I'm referring to.

There are two types of stackable layer: one that holds three of the smaller boxes and one that holds two of the larger boxes. Print as many as you need of each and stack them together with the registration "nubs" to keep them lined up.

I currently have a 9 layer setup and it seems plenty strong and stable even with the weight of all the hardware. All the components are printed with 20% infill, so it could eb made even stronger with a higher density. You can also print a top piece so that you can stack other items on top.

You'll find 3 STL files:

Top.stl

3 Position Box Holder.stl

2 Position Box Holder.stl

Print as many as you need of each (only one Top.stl per stack). I've also included the Fusion 360 file if you'd like to make changes.

The design includes a number of cutouts to both save material and give a more open appearance. The cutouts don't seem to reduce the strength in an adverse way for this use case.

Print Settings

Rafts: No

Supports: No

Resolution: 0.2mm

Infill: 20%

Filament Used: Hatchbox PLA Black / White

Post-Printing

Just stack the units together. No need to glue them unless you really want the strongest connection.
