SD and Micro SD Card Case

Please read first: NOTE: The tolerances on this design are tight. Your printer must be well calibrated. Print benchy or similar and use a caliper to measure everything. The type of filament and temperature will affect the fit as well. You can also try stretching the length by a few % to make the fit better for your printer and filament. The SD cards are easiest inserted by putting the left side down first, and then pushing the right side down and to the left. The left side is the one with the angle corner. The right side SD holder is designed to flex a little bit. Anyway, after seeing that a few people are having trouble I will improve the design by making the SD holes slightly larger and making the right side clip more flexible. Feb 4, 2021 For those of you having trouble with the size being too tight, I have made a new design that is more tolerant of less accurately calibrated printers. Give it a try, it is called sdholderv2.stl. Feb 10, 2021 I deleted the v2 version of the SDholder.stl and uploaded a new improved version of the holder. It is working well on both my printers. Some printers that over-extrude might still need to make slight adjustments. This is a little case to hold your micro SD collection. It holds 16 cards. Each spot has a little gripper that prevents the card from falling out, but note that due to tight tolerances your printer must be well calibrated. I have had success with the slots at .2mm but .1 is probably better. Insert the cards with the left side down and then push on the right side to seat the card. A photography friend pointed out to me that this thing is great for storing camera cards. NOTE: The outer case needs to be printed standing up. I didn't orient the STL file that way, so just stand it up in Cura/Simplify3d/whatever you are using. NEW: I just added a version for the full size SD cards. 1/12/2021: I widened the SD slot a little bit. It was too tight on some cards and hit the write protect slider. I also added catch mechanism to prevent the SD holder from falling out. NOTE: I have tested with some other SD cards and it seems they are not exactly the same size and will not fit in the holder. I will post a new design shortly that should work better. 1/13/2021: I posted the fixed SD design. It fits the SD cards much better now. Another comment on the SD case. Since I only put the little keeper nub on one side it must be inserted into the case in the correct orientation. "SD" on top and the tray with little slot goes in first. I may change this in the future so there is a slot on both sides. 1/20/2021: I added the original Fusion 360 files if you want to do any tweaking. 2/12 I removed the Fusion files as they were very out of date. I'll post them again soon. I added a picture of a combo case that has micro SD and one SD. I'll post the STL files in a couple of days after I finish adjusting a few sizes. Feb 14 Added the latest SD and Combo files. The combo case holds 12 micro SD and one standard SD. I included the Fusion 360 files for anyone that wants to improve on the design. I'm planning some changes to improve the micro SD case. Coming soon.
