Hello everyone,The Moon Lifter concept explores the possibility of using the self-balancing principle to achieve the goal of having a simple axle (beam) connected with two inflatable tori built wheels as a base for lifting the weights. In order to have a functional self-balancing gantry, it is needed that the main weight and center of gravity to be lower than the axle of the wheel. To achieve this I imagine that the main weight which consists of batteries to be lowered with two arms and used conveniently as ballast to achieve self-balancing. When the gantry loads the payload the weight will increase making the self-balancing system even more stable. The wheels' axle hosts the air tank which can supply air to the torus tube through a central inflation system. The wheels consist of a compartmented torus tube, an array of kevlar fabric reinforced spokes, and the wheel hub. The inflatable torus expands against the "spokes" and the radial wearing surface achieving great stiffness. The wheel radial wear surface consists is a flexible yet pressure rigid similar to a firehose, the edge rope inserts keep the circular shape when the tori tube expands and the transverse in grips allow easy packaging. The wheels hubs are powered by hub motors which are well known for their high torque, the motors and a.i. are also responsible for torque steering and keeping the balance similar to a Segway or hoverboards. The huge wheel diameter is very useful for a very smooth ride. The moon environment allows the MoonLifter to have huge-sized wheels which in fact is the perfect (tori) shape to create an inflatable structure capable to lift weights.Thank you.
