Self Watering Plant Saucer with POT and COVER

Auto top-up watering system, can be used with hydroponics nutrient mixed at the right level. I have found that the majority of the nutrient solution is used by the plant and not through evaporation. I would recommend using clay balls (LECA/Hydroton/any other name) and nutrient concentration about 75% of what is recommended for a given plant type. I am still experimenting with the concentration level but have had no issues at 75% (yet!). The added pot and cover give a nice finished look and you can obviously customize colour to suit your settings. Can be used indoors or outdoors. I would recommend using resin (epoxy or UV) to coat the saucer part to prevent leaks from less than perfect prints. There is a spike in the middle of where the soda bottle threads onto. This is designed so that you can cover the top of the bottle with cling film before inverting and therefore you don't loose any nutrient when adding new. I use 500mL soda bottles that will fit under the cover. Any larger will require a new cover design (smaller will be fine). I find 500mL last about a week depending upon plant and conditions. I intend to design a larger system to house a 1L or possible 2L bottle.
