Self-watering planter for starter puck, straight shape and easily groupable
thingiverse
The idea was born after initially seeing the best 2015 had to offer with the self-watering planter model 903411 from Parallel Goods. However, I immediately shied away from it due to an eight-hour print time. But one aspect stood out - a practical fill spout caught my attention. A brief search for a more time-efficient design led me to discover a much smaller and suitable alternative [:248351] made specifically for the quarter-sized pucks that expand with plant starter material. Although, upon further inspection, I found that the 'Jiffy Start' pucks I already owned didn't quite match in size - theirs had a larger diameter. That particular design caught my eye with its innovative geometry, perfect for gripping, and I thought to myself, "A simple thing, made even simpler, could possibly print faster while using less material..." The first version of this creation is somewhat flawed but works as intended. I've chosen not to leave it unpublished because certain users may appreciate specific features, making them worthy of being showcased. The planter-fix now has its single significant design flaw resolved and functions optimally. One major advantage lies in the ability for grouping and organizing these designs side-by-side, greatly increasing space efficiency during storage and transportation. Additionally, a fill spout remains a desired feature - something I've made sure to prioritize in this iteration. At this point, everything discussed is purely hypothetical as this design hasn't yet been printed.
