Remix of Inertpyro' awesome aperture door (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:529661), combined with AcE_Krystal' genius servo driven open/close function to fit 120mm fans in Ikea Platsa enclosure. Or any other 18mm (3/4") thick plates.

Inspired by DaBen (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3697275) I also made a inlet to prevent the fans blowing directly on the printer.

-Door blade and the gears are the same as found on the original versions.
-Baseplate and topside tube are remixed.

Hardware list:

-1x Mini servo, I used the same as AcE_Krystal - https://tinyurl.com/yy9of9qh
-5x M3x6mm cap head screws - https://tinyurl.com/y67j3l76
-5x M3x9mm washers (larger OD than standard) - https://tinyurl.com/y5pvbbtl
-2x M2x10mm countersunk screws, washers and nuts - https://tinyurl.com/y2txvgz5
-4x M4x60 countersunk screws and nuts - https://tinyurl.com/y267gsuc
-1x M5x10 countersunk screw for the inlet lid - https://tinyurl.com/yxzn7rbf

Tools:

-Drill
-Circle compass and a Jig saw, or use a 114mm (4 1/2") hole saw with the drill
-Various screw drivers
-10mm drillbit
-5mm drillbit
-Wood file or sawblade (i.e from a coping saw or similar)
-Vacuum cleaner

-For installment you need to find the center where you want the fan, cut out a 114mm (4 1/2") hole with a hole saw. Or use a compass to draw a circle and use a normal jig saw.

-Use the printed topside_tube as a template for marking out the servo and screw holes.

-Drill the four holes with a 5mm bit.

-I drilled two 10mm holes carefully aligned where the servo motor goes, and used a wooden file to make the hole square.

Fire up the vacuum cleaner, and now you are all set for having one or several cool looking fan apertures. Maybe you are also like me; time to learn Arduino from scratch.

Print instructions

PETG
0.2mm layer height
20% infill
