Hello lightsaber fans! Scarlet Impaler here to bring you an open source, free distribution 3D print file for a Chassis system designed to hold electronics for Saberforge Adaptive Saber Parts lightsabers. How to read file names. For example "ASP_NEC_20mm_RCP" means. ASP - hilt its made for NEC - holds NEC boards 20mm - speaker size RCP - refers to if includes a recharge port (if its left out, it doesn't have it) Chassis lengths (speakers of either size only add a mm or two to total length): ASP_CF-PC+CEX, RCP - 160mm ASP_NEC_RCP - 166mm ASP_NBv3_RCP - 138mm This will cover how to install parts into this chassis. There are extensive tutorials and manuals for respective boards on how to wire everything. You will need: -18650 Holder and cell -20mm speaker (rated for your card) -Soundboard. Either NEC, NBv3, Crystal Focus/Petit Crouton and/or Color Extender -Cheap recharge port (see picture) -30 gauge wiring Order of wiring up and install: -Speaker -Recharge port -18650 holder (snip off pegs and leads) -Everything else -Soundboard There is a channel that runs through the chassis along the bottom, its there for a nice and neat place to keep the wires tucked and out of the way. Hence why there is this specific order. Print settings: I've printed this fine on a MonoPrice Maker Select (Wanhao i3 clone) with out problem. I think 30% infill is good, but if you plan on doing full contact dueling, it wouldn't hurt or take much more time or filament do set it at 100% infill. I printed with brim and supports. Your printer might be tuned in well enough to not need supports, but a brim will still be needed. I do plan on doing a live stream of this on my FB page. https://www.facebook.com/thescarletimpaler, in the near future, and after that, a Youtube video of it. Update Log: February 20th, 2017! -I uploaded the Nano Biscotte v3 soundboard chassis file! With that, its a smaller chassis, at 144mm. February 22th, 2017! -3D Hubs printing service apps has been added as a printing service. -Testing out new chassis to hold Crystal Focus/Petit Crouton + CEX (optional) boards. First test, the respective carriage areas were a bit too small. Should nail it with this print. -Testing out a new method to hold 28mm speakers without structual integrity and print problem concerns. -Got my hands on Railmasters 20mm and 23mm box speakers (both 9mm deep and 8w 8Ohm). They are just like a circle speaker, but attached to a box plate with 4 mounting holes in each corner. Will make versions for both of these and to use screws. I have gained a lot of faith in Railmasters' speakers over the past few months. February 27, 2017! -Took a few prints to get it right, but I successfully made the CF/PC + CEX variant. Will be uploaded tonight, with info on that. -Currently test printing out variants without recharge ports. For if you put yours in the hilt or pommel, or you just don't need one because of the removable battery. -Two versions of each soundboard are ready. One for 20mm and 28mm speaker each (note you still might need a bit of glue for the 28mm speaker. -Updated with all lengths thus far. -Next, is to make a Prizm variant, and variants of all that to hold 28mm Bass speakers -Then potentially final part of this project will be to figure out how to adapt Switchcraft Recharge Ports. March 7, 2017! -All variants without a recharge port have been uploaded. -Still waiting on a PRIZM and 28mm bass speaker. -All variants have slimmed down lengths and lower walls on the 18650 holder section. -One more goal of this project, for all variants, is to do away with the end walls altogether. Instead, using mounting holes and the 18650 holder's pegs to keep them together (and make them easily removable).
