The shabti figurine was an essential funerary artifact in ancient Egyptian culture, serving as a loyal servant for the deceased in the afterlife. These diminutive statues were placed among tomb goods and were prepared to undertake manual labor at the behest of their owner, should they be summoned to do so. A hoe on the shoulder and a basket on the back of these figurines symbolized their intention to farm for the deceased. Inscriptions written on the legs in hieroglyphs asserted their willingness to answer the gods' call to work.
