Shelf Queen Axles for Crawler

Shelf Queen Axles for Crawler

Hi guys, If you have a sweet sweet crawler body shell that you hardly ever run and you're like me, it spends a lot of time sitting on the shelf, alone and forlorn. Why not build a cheap chassis to put it on? These axle housings are dirt cheap if you have a 3D printer. They probably don't make any sense if you don't because you can just buy a set of cheap axles. All you need to make these work really well is a set of cheap drive shafts and some screws. Dirt cheap drive shafts (the fronts are notoriously weak): https://www.injora.com/products/metal-axle-dogbone-shaft-gear-for-injora-90046-axle-replacement-parts?variant=39449036095536 Still cheap but much better fronts: https://www.injora.com/products/metal-cvd-dogbone-shaft-axle-gear-for-injora-yqcq-02-axle?variant=39727162753072 I would buy the better quality drive shafts: a) if you have an SCX10 and b) you think you might use them in the future for any reason. You will also need: 4 M2.5x16mm screws to secure the back half of the axle shell 4 M2x8mm screws to secure the pinion carrier For axles with screw on link mounts: 8 M3x8mm screws to secure link mounts to axle You can make do with less screws or slightly different lengths, just be sure to check the fit. I strongly recommend drilling thru holes and pre-tapping screw holes (run a screw into each hole with the parts loose). Assembly video: https://youtu.be/2pGlL0M1Tlg Most of the plastic parts from the functional axles I've made are usable as Shelf queen parts but some have bearing cups you will need to account for (use a fake bearing for shelf queen purposes). For functional axles I would print them at a heat wear stringing begins with near 100% infill. For pure shelf queen, use whatever settings you like. Parts options (for 2 axles each): BOM1 (integral link mount on axle) NOT recommended: 2x Axle_L1_Pinion_Side_SQ.stl 2x Axle_L1_Cover_SQ.stl 2x V2_Pinion_Carrier_SQ.stl 2x Axle_Input_Shaft_SQ.stl 2x Fake_Spool_SQ.stl 2x Fake_Rear_Bearing_SQ.stl 2x Rear_Outer_5x11x4_F.stl 1x Left_Caster_Block_SQ.stl 1x mirrored Left_Caster_Block_SQ.stl 1x Injora_Knuckle_SQ.stl 1x mirrored Injora_Knuckle_SQ.stl 4 M2.5x16mm screws to secure the back half of the axle shell 4 M2x8mm screws to secure the pinion carrier BOM2 (Screw on link mounts): 2x Axle_L2_Pinion_Side_SQ.stl 2x Axle_L2_Cover_SQ.stl 4x Link_Mount_SQ.stl 2x V2_Pinion_Carrier_SQ.stl 2x Axle_Input_Shaft_SQ.stl 2x Fake_Spool_SQ.stl 2x Fake_Rear_Bearing_SQ.stl 2x Rear_Outer_5x11x4_F.stl 1x Left_Caster_Block_SQ.stl 1x mirrored Left_Caster_Block_SQ.stl 1x Injora_Knuckle_SQ.stl 1x mirrored Injora_Knuckle_SQ.stl 4 M2.5x16mm screws to secure the back half of the axle shell 4 M2x8mm screws to secure the pinion carrier 8 M3x8mm screws to secure link mounts to axle BOM3 (Screw on link mounts AND removeable diff cover): 2x Axle_L2_Pinion_Side_SQ.stl 2x Axle_L2_V2_Cover_SQ.stl 2x Axle_L2_V2_Diff_Cover_SQ.stl 4x Link_Mount_SQ.stl 2x V2_Pinion_Carrier_SQ.stl 2x Axle_Input_Shaft_SQ.stl 2x Fake_Spool_SQ.stl 2x Fake_Rear_Bearing_SQ.stl 2x Rear_Outer_5x11x4_F.stl 1x Left_Caster_Block_SQ.stl 1x mirrored Left_Caster_Block_SQ.stl 1x Injora_Knuckle_SQ.stl 1x mirrored Injora_Knuckle_SQ.stl 4 M2.5x16mm screws to secure the back half of the axle shell 4 M2x8mm screws to secure the pinion carrier 8 M3x8mm screws to secure link mounts to axle Wrench to drive or drive to wrench?
