Instructions How to use Shepherd's whistle: With the back of your tongue placed on the flat surface of the whistle, blow gently. Your tongue is directing the airflow to the top of the whistle and through the hole (you want to make sure your tongue prevents any air from getting under the whistle) A pocket of air forms under the whistle and as the air pressure increases, it forces itself back out the hole. Air escapes through the slit that divides the top and bottom and whistles. You can change the whistle's tone and pitch by making different formations with your mouth and blowing louder or softer. Here's a video of a guy who is very talented at playing this type of whistle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mv66viUCn1Y
