Sherline Mills and Lathes come with a whole bunch of tools, and I love 'em! Keeping them in an orderly manner has always been a challenge, so I created these organizer trays (and more in the pipeline) so that 1) the tools can be kept so that all loose items that belong together can be kept together and not lost in a pile of crap, 2) So that the items can be stacked (more or less) neatly in a tool box and take up less space than having them in zip-lock bags, 3) So that the items can be neatly found when I need 'em (geez - it could take quite a while to find the right screw if it's in a pile of screws), 4) If you're reading this far, it's pretty good! So give yourself a pat on the back!, 5) Cos it's fun making things! 1) Knurling Tool Tray This tray includes 4 insets for storing spare knurls (2 pairs) and slots for the screws which are not in use (the knurling tool uses long or short screws depending on the diameter of the part to be knurled). It's assumed that the T-nuts are going to be always kept on the knurling tool. 2) Step Down Blocks Tray This tray has slots at the bottom to keep all the various lengths of screws as pairs and are easy to find when needed. The step down blocks are placed on top of the screws for storage. The divider "posts" are relatively fragile, and are really not that functional, so it shouldn't matter if they broke off. 3) Steady Rests Tray This tray hols BOTH the Steady Rest and the Follower Rest. The brass bars of the Follower rest have to be removed from the rest body and stored in the slot provided. The bars of the steady rest can be left in place, but pushed to the innermost posiiton. This was done in order to minimize the box size required. The follower rests hold down tab is also housed in a slot at the top of the box. 4) Radius Cutter Tray This tray holds the 3 main items of the radius cutter kit snugly and keeps the cutter supports (with their very sharp centers) away from each other. 4) Machine Vice Tray This tray holds the machine vice and it has higher walls so that the hold down clamps and T nuts can also be stored in the same tray. There are slots in the side wall so that it is easy to grasp the vice to remove it from the box.
