Shiden'issen Jujutsu "Go Rin" (Five Ring) Bokken-Tsuba (2019 Edition)

A bokken (wood katana) edition of Sensei Ryan Maza's custom Shiden'issen Jujutsu Katana's tsuba, based on his style's mon (crest) that evokes Miyamoto Musashi's famous martial-philosophical treatise "Go Rin No Sho" ("Book of Five Rings"). This tsuba is optimized to fit specifically these white-oak Iaido bokken ( https://www.e-bogu.com/product-p/ebg-com-iai-boksaya-set-w.htm ) which were the standard tools recommended to all students in Sensei Ryan Maza's Shiden'issen Jujutsu class. It does not, however, fit shoto (wood wakazashi) shortswords. I'd like to create a three-dimensional version of this; never was satisfied with the flat design. Sensei Maza was a professional graphics artist when he wasn't teaching Jujutsu or shredding guitar, and to my eyes the concept-art's flat design is clearly an artifact of the SVG format he must have used. In the original art an prototype, I feel like the whole idea of rings just gets lost / looks like a loopy star. I am moving this project over here from Shapeways because Shapeways was harder to upload to and to share with my surviving classmates......more of whom have 3D-printers of their own now. The last photo is just a leftover from an online joke with my dojo mates... That black bokken of mine snapped in half years ago, and since the break was long and diagonal, I successfully glued it back together (back to full strength) with TitebondII and some strong polyester string. I hadn't set out to make it extra cool, it just worked out that way after I decided to lacquer right over the string. And the meaningful tsuba just made it so much "more better". ;P https://youtu.be/NvXGmkkXrVw
