A magical heater shield from the high-fantasy world I am currently working on : “The shield of the centipede is an artifact serving as a seal for a powerful evil spirit. The eponymous centipede, also know under the name of Legion, is an undead creature composed of the souls of a hundred soldiers. This shapeshifter’s favorite form (the one depicted on the shield) is that of a giant centipede with a human face. Each segment of its body stands for one soul and vaguely looks like a skull with two glowing eyes.”
