Looking to BEEF-UP your quad a bit?! PUT a little SPRING in your multirotor's step with my radical shock-absorbing extension legs! Designed with the famously cloned q450/f450 flamewheel style X-frame quadcopter in mind. Looking for a project to use your leftover McMaster MK8 extruder mod springs on (Part# 9657K331).. WELL, look no further! This .thing is a bonafide REMIX.. a 2 .thing mashup.. heavily influenced by yet another, 3rd .thing. What you're looking at: chrismalyon's "Flamewheel F450 Extension legs", cut down to use as a mounting & pivot bracket as well as upper-spring perch.. rubinkingma's "Legs for q450/F450 style bottom glassfiber plate"..since these legs offer excellent support. I personally didn't have the clearance in the frame's arches to use rubinkingma's legs 'as-was', due to wiring and shrinkwrap and whatnot.. thus I redesigned the fitment to suit my own machinations. If you like a larger footprint, or want to land with style on rugged, uneven terrain.. then here you go! A lovingly frankensteined model, all glued together with some fancy Blender 'magic' to resemble a GIANT MK8 extruder. The minimalistic mk8 being the INSPIRATION of this whole piece piece really. oh, & Camera gimbals also welcome! So enough rambling.. unless you're printing... then you'll be here on Thingiverse a while.. Hope you enjoy!! Instructions Should work on any copter using DJI-style arms. Uses extra 2 screw/nut pairs. &of course McMaster spring Part# 9657K331.. (though I'd wager there's a slightly firmer or slightly softer spring out there more suited to the task..) 1 m3x16 screw/nut will secure the brackets on the leg. Then another longer m3 can be used to secure the pivot, though I recommend going slightly wider to prevent play at this joint. The second screw should be up to 1" in length. Remember.. Snug fit for the pivot.. piloting out the holes before hand is recommended if you go wider than m3. (press firmly by hand or heat your screw a little bit to avoid splitting layers) Also..depending on your model/clone of the 450 frame you may notice the fitment isn't totally sealed around the inner or outer edge of the clamp pieces due to varied leg thicknesses in manufacturing... This actually is a GOOD thing for universality of fitment in our case. Don't worry about it unless it's due to uneven spacing in the pivot we've added on. You'll want to keep that as close to centered as you can.
