I made these knobs to replace the stock ShopSmith band saw cover knobs that take forever to remove/ fall off when you need to change the blade. Two versions to choose from: -- v1.3 offers a turn and a half of thread engagement. (Much faster to remove than stock knobs with a fair amount of thread engagement) -- v1.4 offers about a half turn of thread engagement. (Very fast to remove without letting go of the knob as you turn it. Use jam nuts with this version) Required hardware: 5/16" - 18 Nuts (or jam nuts with v1.4)(qty 3) -- Recess for nut is designed to be a very tight (non-removable) press-fit without using adhesive. Use a mallet and punch to seat nuts fully to the bottom of recess. Optional Hardware: 1/2 Plastic End Caps (qty 3) --Near the top of the nut recess, notice the inset groove. This allows you to snap in a plastic end cap to cover the hole. PLEASE NOTE: Due to v1.4's shallower nut recess, 5/16" - 18 jam nuts are used to provide clearance for end caps to snap into place.
