First, this is not supposed to be political, but you can make of it what you will, I don't care.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

This is the Shruggie or "Presidential Medal of Excellence" which is one of the highest honors of Nerdom, or so I have heard. When accepting the award it is considered respectful to say "I don't know what this is for" or some variation of that phrase as culturally appropriate, only then is it acceptable to applaud and congratulate the lucky recipient of the award.

This prestigious medal was designed to be printed in two colors with the text layer in black, and an alternating color scheme for the base. When deciding on the base color for the medal, it is customary to use the Star Trek uniform color scheme (from the original series of course - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star\_Trek\_uniforms#Star\_Trek:\_The\_Original\_Series). That is, use yellow or green for command staff (boss/manager), blue for science officers (general nerds) and red for the every one else's (interns). The medal does not need to be printed in genuine Starfleet velour, PLA is acceptable these days. Failure to adhere to the standard will void the award and probably result in a few eye rolls.

The final official medal should be 60 x 67 x 4 mm

Please note that when this was posted, I ddin't have a 3D printer, so I did not print this version out. But I was able to get a similar version printed, and have corrected some issues from that print in this model (had some floating text that I fixed).

How I Designed This

¯\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Category: Coins & Badges
