This Spindle Lock mechanism is for the Sieg SX2P mini mill with an R8 spindle. I was inspired to have a go at making this after seeing one of Charlie Sarsfield's YouTube videos - where he makes one out of metal. His YouTube channel is at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChOFg9IOHWC9jk0ydsRYk3w My dimensions are slightly different from Charlie's. My first attempt (V1) had a tendancy to rotate slightly when tightening the R8 bolt. This was due to a slight gap between the plastic part and the mill. I quickly fixed this by making a 1.5mm shim out of plastic (stl included). I then decided to create V2 which closes up this gap. Both versions are included, but I suggest you try V2 first. You also need to machine a metal pin/bolt to go through plastic part (diagram included). You can also incorporate a spring and pin to pull the pin/bolt away from the spindle when not in use. More details on this can be found in Charlie's video. I tried out PLA and PETG and both worked well. I used 25% fill. I hope this is of use to some of you.
