The signal generator is a useful tool for the electronics enthusiast's work bench. You can spend a lot of money for a powerful signal generator. The UDS1000S series of signal generators are feature rich and low cost.

The module is readily available with at least three different maximum top frequencies, ranging up to 8MHz (sine wave). I purchased my 8MHz UDS1000S module and Au power adapter from AliExpress for less than AU$40 from here:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32873131334.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dWqQ8wU

I had a need for a compact and portable generator. My UDS1000S signal generator module offers a good frequency range (excellent within the audio range) and a sweep function to mention only a couple of key features. See included PDF User Manual (where site allows) for further details.

Output from the signal generator is made available to 4mm banana sockets and a BNC socket. Keep these wires short. The BNC wiring should be shielded cable to minimise the pick-up of stray noise.

The module draws just 1W of power, so it will work nicely from a battery source, making it portable, too. The chosen 18650 2500mAh battery should drive the signal generator for 8 hours between charges. The 18650 output voltage is brought up to the needed 5V by a MT3608 buck booster module. For my needs, this signal generator will only get light and infrequent use, so have not included a battery charging port nor charging circuit. Instead, when charging is due, I just remove the 18650 and charge it externally.

The case lid is held in place by four 6g (3.5mm) x 15mm countersunk screws. The signal generator is held in-place by three 5g (3mm) x 12mm screws.

Here is my 3D design. My design may match your needs, too.

My print is made in PETG 1.75mm Aurarum silver and black filaments, with 0.2mm layer height and 15% infill on a PRUSA I3 MK3S printer.

I hope you can find this design useful, too.

Remember to leave me some feedback or even a tip to keep me enthused to make more of these drawings.
