Silica gel container

Silica gel container

myminifactory

This is a large container for silica gel (dessicant) that should be able to take 1 kg of silica gel consisting of granules with a diameter larger than 1.9 mm. This is loosely based on Malolo's Silica Gel containers series, but I've modeled it myself from scratch with inner wall supports, so it is not a remix. Malolo's version: https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-malolo-s-silica-gel-desiccant-containers-87487 At 90% scale it takes a bit less than 1kg, which is how I printed it on my Prusa i3 MK2 (not enough Z for 100%). The 4 holes in the upper part of the container (the lid) are for attaching rope so the container can be suspended from a hook in the safe or ceiling. Just use two short ropes of around 1 mm diameter and make knots at the ends of the ropes so it stays in place. It prints without supports, use PETG, might also be possible with PLA (leave a comment if you've tried it). The printing time for me was almost 32 hours with a layer height of 0.2 and 20% cubic infill, but it should be possible to print it with 0.3 layer height in about 20 hrs. You can lower the infill to 15% to further cut down on printing time. I printed at 50 mm/s. I've been using this as a weapons safe moisture control and it works nicely.  As always, I'm including the SolidWorks source CAD files in .rar.
