Simple buffing/polishing wheel

Simple buffing/polishing wheel

prusaprinters

This project is just a simple two-part buffing/polishing wheel, onto which you just attach some kind of cloth or chamois with a rubber band. An M5 bolt is used as the shaft, just chuck it into your drill and start polishing.

The top piece is meant to be used alone, if desired, and is 4 cm in diameter. The optional spreader is 8 cm in diameter.

This project was inspired by one I saw on that other, slow model site. :-P

Print instructions

Print the top piece in some durable plastic (Atomic Emerald Green translucent PETG shown here)

Print the spreader part in something flexible (Sain Smart Bright Green TPU shown here).

Press an M5 x 30-40 mm hex-head bolt into the bottom of the top piece, seating it into its recess, then thread a nut over the bolt and secure it.

Press a couple of M3 x 11-14 mm screws into the bottom of the spreader, align the two pieces and press them together, then secure with nuts. Don't over-tighten them, this is TPU after all. :-)
