By using a large Jumbo-sized paperclip, you can easily fix your MakerBot Automated Build Platform (ABP) issue that occurred while learning to use it. The wooden snap fit slot holding the geared roller loosened so much that the motor gear forced the roller gear out of its place and slipped. However, this simple paper clip solution has been successful in 14 prints so far. To apply the fix, straighten the big paperclip but retain the small loop. Clip the free end of the small loop to about half an inch long and the long straight end to around one and a half inches long. Slip the small loop around the motor shaft between the plastic gear and the wooden ABP, and close it slightly with needle-nose pliers. Bend the long end over the geared roller shaft, ensuring that it holds the gear teeth in place without jamming them. Remember that it's crucial for the paper clip to rest on the metal shafts for optimum holding power, and it might be better if the C shape points forward as shown in the photo.
