ABUS 5t ELV (Overhead crane) for LEGO! Hi All!! Here is my overhead crane model of an single girder overhead crane (ELV) for my LEGO set at work (can you tell what industry I’m in?!) This is a replica of an ABUS 5t ELV designed to fit on a lego rails/gantry that is 27 studs wide. The wheels roll and the hoist unit slides along the gantry. The hook/rope can be made to be manually winched up/down with some modification. All parts have been designed to fit in a small printer (mine is 180x150x180) with minimal or no supports. I have printed in PLA but can be made in other matirials just as easy! The Main Gantry/Girder has been split into 2 (to fit in smaller printer) and just needs gluing together. End Carriages are best printed upside down and can be glued to the main gantry/girder. There are 2 types of wheels. The first type has the flanges on but if you are struggling to print the second type comes in 3 pieces. For both types, if you want them to roll, I drilled a 1mm hole through the centre and through the end carriage where the wheel pockets are and then put a pin though them. You can just glue them in though and they will slide along the rail just fine. Hoist. the hoist comes in 2 parts. These can be glued but I drilled and inserted 2 small self-tappers though the bottom half. For the rope, I used a bit of thread. There are pockets in both parts of the hoist one side i put a 1mm hole though the centre of the pocket and inserted a pin and tied the thread to it for the other side there is to options. Either repeat the same process for the other side with desired length or if you want to be able to manually winch the crane, drill a hole for a Lego drive axle (4.8mm or 5mm). insert a small drive axle. Tie the sting/tread to the axle and either put a small Lego gear on as I have or used the hoist wheel added in the files. The motors just glue on to the end carriages where the wheels are There is also a control box, radio, light and horn (red bit). These just glue on as per the photos show or in the desired place. Comments and advice welcome as always. I don’t ask for donations be please show your makes!!
