Simple vertical Filament Guide

Simple vertical Filament Guide

I briefly searched for a clip-on filament guide that could be slid over my RepRap printer's plastic frame. I had been manually guiding the filament and letting it drag, but I wanted something more efficient. I discovered a few options, but unfortunately, the slot was parallel to the hole in the guide, which might print better but didn't work for me. So, I designed one myself using Tinkercad. This design isn't supposed to be aesthetically pleasing; I made the hole big enough for 3D filament and the top slot partially formed for 1.75mm filament. It can be easily knifed out if needed. There are two types of filament guides: one requires threading, while the other allows the filament to be inserted through the top, protecting both the filament and printer edge from friction. This guide serves either purpose. For a threaded guide, clean it up and make sure it clips onto the plastic edge. For the other type, simply knife out the partially formed slot at the top. Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer Model: Kossel Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2 layers, 0.4 nozzle diameter Infill: Approximately 30% Notes: Print the item with the open slot facing upwards so that the filament strands strengthen the slot. Avoid printing with the small end down. The rounded part requires support; I used CURA and specified support to touch the build plate and brim. Post-Printing: After printing, remove the brim and support. Clean up with a needlenose pliers, paying attention to any debris blocking the slot. If you want to thread the filament through the round part, use it as printed. If you prefer a top-slot threaded guide, use an exacto knife to clean out the partially prepared angled slot in the top of the round filament guide.
