Designed to so I could use a regular door sensor but turned so it would work on my garage door. I did not just want to stick/glue the magnet sensor to the metal frame as I figured this will eventual fall off and cause an alarm. This bracket screws to the metal up & over door and the sensor drills to the wall beside it. Although the magnet sits snug in the bracket, I did apply a layer of superglue to ensure it never falls out. Hope this helps someone else trying to figure out how to put a sensor on their garage door. Just a note - I have 2x sensors on the garage now. One on the outer/up & over door which arms on 'home'. The other one is on the inner, entry door from the garage into the house which only arms on 'awa'y. That way you can pull into the garage without worrying about entry timer when you are returning from away. When the system is set to home - the kids can sneak out and raid the 2nd fridge for goodies without having to disarm the entiresystem - which invariably leads to them not setting it again for the night.. #teenagers
